And the Winner Is...

I'd like to thank the academy for nominating 10 fine films for us movie lovers. Thank you to Dylan, who watched an impressive 5/10 of them with me. A special thanks to my boss who loaned me three, and Netflix for the other two. I'd like to thank my local theaters who offered matinees so I wouldn't go broke in my endeavors. And finally, I'd like to thank my faithful blog readers (you know who you are) for your support. And now, with one eye on the TV and one eye studying the books I've been abandoning, I will wait in great anticipation for the winners to be announced on Sunday.
(And I did like An Education. Although not Oscar material in my opinion, a different kind of story with a promising new actress, Carey Mulligan. An interesting plot on whether a man is worth giving up an education... or is that the education??)

  2. I just love your new blog! Have you filled out your oscar ballot yet? I've heard people say it will be the most predictable Oscar Awards show in years. I am so impressed that you saw all 10! I'm only at 50% this year and of those, I'd vote for Hurt Locker as best film, best director and best male lead actor. Although, I did love Clooney in Up in the Air...we shall see on Sunday!!! XOXO Tara

  3. Thanks for your comments, ladies. I think Avatar will win, just because it's so out-there with new methods of film-making and typical over-the-top James Cameron style. But the story lines of the Hurt Locker and Inglorious Basterds were definitely my favorites. I have the ballots printed out but not filled out yet:) I'm pulling for Jeremy Renner for best male actor in a leading role, as well. Wish you two were here to have an Oscar party!
