Spring Break: Part II

For the second part of my spring break I was able to fly down to FL to see Ashley. We had a ball shopping, eating, chatting, and lounging on the beach in Naples. We were lucky to have Tara join us for an evening, as well. On the last day we took a stroll to the pier and saw a 10-foot bull shark (who was later released).

Spring Break: Part I

To celebrate the end of the winter quarter I took the week off and spent a couple of days with these little guys:

We had a great time going to the Children's Museum, going to Mommy's Jazzercise class, and having dance parties at home.

And the Winner Is...

I'd like to thank the academy for nominating 10 fine films for us movie lovers. Thank you to Dylan, who watched an impressive 5/10 of them with me. A special thanks to my boss who loaned me three, and Netflix for the other two. I'd like to thank my local theaters who offered matinees so I wouldn't go broke in my endeavors. And finally, I'd like to thank my faithful blog readers (you know who you are) for your support. And now, with one eye on the TV and one eye studying the books I've been abandoning, I will wait in great anticipation for the winners to be announced on Sunday.
(And I did like An Education. Although not Oscar material in my opinion, a different kind of story with a promising new actress, Carey Mulligan. An interesting plot on whether a man is worth giving up an education... or is that the education??)

Team Bigelow

The Hurt Locker was the surprise hit for me. I loved it. It's a very raw look at war, but with amazing character development and just a really interesting story line. I know movies are good when I watch the bonus features AND immediately google it to read up on what I may have missed. I would highly recommend it for at least best lead actor, best picture, and best director.

I didn't really like A Serious Man. You know you're not loving it when you keep checking the dvd player to see how much longer. The characters weren't that lovable and the story line wasn't that interesting. It's my least favorite. On Saturday I went to see the 9:30am "early bird" showing of The Blind Side. Dylan refused to go, as he doesn't like Sandra Bullock ever since she married Jesse James. I've loved her ever since her "While You Were Sleeping" days. I thought it was a great feel good movie, perhaps not worthy of the Oscar but a good story nontheless.
