Hustle up the Hancock

94 flights, 25 minutes, good sister time and nearly $1000 raised for the Respiratory Health Association of Chicago. I'd say we did good!

I give.

So after a very disheartening viewing of "Winter's Bone" last night (that's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back), I decided I'm done with my race to the Oscars. I will fall one movie short. Instead of going to the theater to see "True Grit", I've decided to do the studying I've been ignoring, do a quick hustle up 94 flights of stairs (http://my.imisfriendraising.com/personalPage.aspx?registrationID=289247&langPref=en-CA) and spend some quality time with the family this weekend. But you better believe I'll be watching the Oscars on Sunday night.

Shopping, Cesar's and the Fighter with my bestie

Tara treated me to a visit yesterday. We shopped all day on Michigan Avenue, hit up our old margarita place and went to see the Fighter. Really really liked the Fighter. Loved Markie Mark, even though he didn't get nominated, and loved Christian Bale even though he went from my hero in the Batman movies to skinny druggie. Love him anyway.

Movie club

Last oscar season, for somewhat selfish reasons I created a movie club with girls from work. Due to the great blizzard of 2011 we were delayed a week, but tonight managed to have a fun night out to see "The King's Speech". Loved it! Sorry Jeremy Renner, you were my favorite for best supporting actor but now I MUST have Geoffrey Rush, who made the whole movie for me. I'd also be game if it won Best Picture and Best Actor.

The Social Network

I enjoyed a nice, quiet Sunday morning on the couch watching The Social Network. Entertaining and enjoyable. I thought Jesse Eisenberg was awesome, and especially deserving of his Best Actor nod.

The Great Blizzard 2011

One week ago was the 3rd heaviest snowfall Chicago has ever seen. While hundreds of cars were stranded on Lake Shore Drive overnight and the whole city shut down, Dylan and I had fun playing in the snow in our 'hood. The next day I bundled up and maneuvered my way through the quiet streets. 2 hours later I was at work, thanks to the Chicago Transit Authority.
