great lakes tour
the whole idea was to get a sense of this giant body of water we live next to. and to take a long camping trip without spending a ton of money.
our total mileage was ~1500mi. we camped on lakes michigan, huron, and mirror. we had two hotel nights with views of lake superior and lake mendota. we hiked around devil's lake. so all told, lots of water, quite a few bugs, a heavy night storm, some good food, and lots of quality time with each other.
it was pretty awesome.

illinois beach
with a ComEd plant in the middle of it, and adjacent to some pretty depressed communities, Illinois Beach has a unique flavor. like asbestos.
